Why Wichita Montessori?

What kinds of children attend the Wichita Montessori School?

A distinguishing feature of the Montessori educational system is its appropriateness for most children. For entrance into our primary program, young children who are curious, engaged, respectful, and kind to others, and who respond to adult direction are good candidates. Older students will feel right at home if they possess the same attributes, along with high academic motivation, the drive to tackle new challenges, as well as the ability to work both independently and with adult support. Unlike programs that attempt to match the child and an inflexible learning environment, Wichita Montessori School encourages and enables each child to discover a way of learning that works best. By allowing students “choice with limits,” the school continually stays as unique as each one of our students.

Children ages 3-11 may enroll here. Each year builds upon the previous year, so the longer the child stays at WMS the greater the educational benefit. We welcome admission at all levels of the program.

What kinds of individuals emerge from Montessori-based programs?

Allow us to do a little name-dropping. You’ll find a list of notable Montessori-educated people on the spines of your books, the CDs in your sound system, and the pages of every history book. Though each person who’s passed through the Montessori system makes their own unique contributions, it’s easy to detect the passion for learning and sharing that marks the accomplishments of these individuals.
